Potato, cheese and herb terrine

700g floury potatoes peel, slice very thinly Layer: smoked bacon, potato, cheese, herbs, unsmoked bacon, potato, cheese, herbs, smoked bacon. Dot with butter. Cover with damp greaseproof paper, bake in hot oven 40 minutes. Remove cover, bake further 20 minutes. Turn out while warm.
350g smoked streaky bacon  
350g unsmoked bacon  
150g strong cheddar grate
handful fresh herbs  
75g unsalted butter  
Serve hot or cold, with herb salad.
