Mrs Todorovic's Easter kulich

A deliciously light Polish bread-cake, traditionally eaten at Easter with pashka.

. Made in a large fruit can (#10 size). 11 steps
250g butter melt   mix Knead dough

Place in babka tin (a cylinder, 16cm diameter, 18cm high) lined with greaseproof paper. Cover with a plastic bag, leave in a warm place until doubled in volume.

Stand in bowl of hot water and bake in moderate oven. When top begins to brown, cover top with foil and reduce to very slow.

300ml cream luke warm
200ml milk
320g sugar   mix
vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 eggs beat lightly   mix
8 egg yolks
4 drops holy water
2 sachets yeast mix, leave 10 minutes or until bubbly
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 tablespoon sugar
80ml milk luke warm
plain flour   stir in enough flour to make it thick and kneadable
